Facilities
Premises
Barron McCann's operational headquarters cover approximately 120,000 sq ft, conveniently located for transportation links on the outskirts of Derby. The purpose built building comprises a warehouse, engineering facility and our UK Service Centre for our operational and administrative support teams.
All premises are covered by internal and external CCTV and Access control systems, onsite security guards and roving patrols.
Barron McCann is currently making good progress towards the ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) standard, having reached the security levels required to deliver the 2011 Census on behalf of The Office of National Statistics.
Personnel & security
Barron McCann employ approximately 225 personnel, the vast majority of whom are employed in the direct provision of the services that we offer.
In order to ensure the quality of service delivered, we choose not to subcontract works to 3rd parties or agencies unless absolutely required; in the rare occasions where this is necessary we are always transparent about these relationships.
Our pre-employment screening process complies to Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) as a minimum, and a significant proportion of engineers have airside and/or railside clearance in order to support such clients as WHSmith and World Duty Free.
Logistics & Inventory
Our central logistics operation is housed within the 120,000 sq ft Derby Headquarters.
The Field engineering workforce is logistically supported by 27 Forward Stock Locations (FSL) where we permanently hold the distributed spares inventory required to support customer contracts.
The FSLs are further supported by over 1,000 locked box locations, with each locked box location being mapped to our engineer's locations, thus ensuring our engineers are no more than 2.5 miles away from their box in order to collect and return spares. This enables Barron McCann to be able to position all parts within 2 hours of any of our customer locations.
Our logistics management team has real time visibility of all stock holdings regardless of location. This ensures that we are able to provide spare parts to our field engineers quickly and accurately. In turn this enables us to maximise the first time fix rate and provide a world-class maintenance service without having to hold excessive and costly inventory.
All assets are captured on our fully integrated, state of the art stock management system that is fully accessible via our Web portal or EDI link. Each Asset can be tracked by serial number, barcode or customer specific asset tag. Assets are normally recorded by serial number either during the hangaring and build process or during an installation or change.
We can readily adapt stock reports in order to meet customer-specific requirements and make these available via our Web portal or EDI link.
Systems
Our core systems are built on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV platform, a widely adopted and recognised ERP software solution. We have invested considerable internal development resource who have, over time, significantly enhanced the functionality of this solution to incorporate:
- Call logging & management
- Inventory control and movement
- Engineer scheduling
- Real-time management and control
As such, Microsoft Dynamics brings together both the needs of the call, and the assets by which they can be addressed.
For maintenance clients we can provide a web-based front-end into Microsoft Dynamics that facilitates both the direct entry of maintenance call details, and near real-time querying/reporting of existing calls.
For many customers we can implement an electronic link between our internal systems and your first line desk in order to provide automatic issue, management and status reporting of all calls.
