Blood Audit and Release System (BARS)
The BARS system was developed in 1999 to address the problems associated with the transfusion of blood components. The system tracks the movement of blood products via barcode and constantly monitors storage temperatures.
Barron McCann designed the unique hardware for BARS in partnership with software developers Fordman Systems.
Both SHOT (Serious Hazards of Transfusion) and the National Haemovigilance Scheme have independently identified the main areas of risk as being "from the point of collection from the fridge, to the site of transfusion to the right patient." It is precisely this risk that BARS is designed to address. With BARS blood is monitored and tracked producing a complete audit trail, ensuring full compliance with the 2002/98 EU Directive.
Blood is a valuable resource that we cannot afford to waste. BARS helps ensure that this asset is controlled safely and effectively.

Factory Production Terminal (FPT)
Barron McCann developed a waterproof, dustproof, integrated touchscreen solution for application by a leading household brand in the food industry. The resulting unit is able to withstand the most challenging of physical environments, including being hosed clean on a regular basis.
The unit can be wall or surface mounted and uses a polycarbonate touchscreen for improved operator-machine interface. A tough polyester front overlay prevents damage to the screen reducing maintenance and repair costs. The units comply with BSI EN 60529:1992 (IP66 rated) and are independently certified for CE and FOC approval.
The Factory Production Terminal (FPT) exemplifies the ability for Barron McCann to rise to the most difficult of engineering challenges to solve an customer's specific needs.
