Barron McCann – MD Vision

For nearly 40 years Barron McCann Limited has been well established delivering IT services to a wealth of leading businesses around the UK and Europe and I am proud to say that the Company is well-known for its quality of service delivery and professionalism at every stage of our customer’ journey.

Joining over 20 years ago with an engineering background and experience in delivering service into the Retail sector, I brought with me a desire to grow the Barron McCann business in Retail and that is precisely what I have  done.  Now well established in this sector, Barron McCann delivers its core services to a wealth of business partners, including Government departments, IT Consultants and Manufacturers, Software and Infrastructure providers and some large International retailers.

Following a recent MBO, I am both the Managing Director and largest shareholder of Barron McCann Holdings and I have a vision to expand our product and service offers by pre-empting the requirements of our partners, growing our core expertise in complimentary business areas, striving to give our partners an end to end service provided by my excellent team.

As all shareholders are founder members, Barron McCann is uniquely flexible in its ability to make, and act upon, firm and fast decisions.

Barron McCann Limited is an independent IT service provider, specialising in secure installation, support and disposal of distributed IT systems. We have over 35 years experience in the implementation, transition and support of IT assets across multiple platforms and environments and boast an impressive portfolio of clients.  Working with large retailers, government departments, IT hardware and software companies it is the duration of our relationships with those organisations which is testimony to our ability to consistently deliver quality service.

Barron McCann is privately owned, profitable and financially secure. Founded in 1977, the consistent delivery of service excellence has earned the company a reputation for quality and has allowed them to grow largely via referrals into a business, which today employs some 260 employees.

Barron McCann’s operational headquarters cover approximately 150,000 sq ft, conveniently located for transportation links on the outskirts of Derby. The purpose-built building comprises a warehouse, engineering facility and our UK  and International Service Centre for our operational and administrative support teams.

All premises are covered by internal and external CCTV and Access control systems, on site security guards and roving patrols

Barron McCann Limited employs approximately 270 personnel, the vast majority of whom are employed in the direct provision of the services that we offer.

In order to ensure the quality of service delivered, we choose not to subcontract works to third parties or agencies unless absolutely required; in the rare occasions where this is necessary we are always transparent about these relationships.

Our pre-employment screening process complies to Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) as a minimum, and a significant proportion of engineers have airside and/or railside clearance bsi-and-ukasin order to support such clients as WH Smith and World Duty Free.


We’ve been independently assessed by BSI against Internationally recognized standards showing our commitment to quality and assurance.

Our core systems are built on the navision logoplatform, a widely adopted and recognised ERP software solution. We have invested considerable internal development resource that have, over time, significantly enhanced the functionality of this solution to incorporate:

  • Call logging & management
  • Inventory control and movement
  • Engineer scheduling
  • Real-time management and control

As such, Microsoft Dynamics brings together both the needs of the call, and the assets by which they can be addressed.

For maintenance clients we can provide a web-based front-end into Microsoft Dynamics that facilitates both the direct entry of maintenance call details, and near real-time querying/reporting of existing calls.

For many customers we can implement an electronic link between our internal systems and your first line desk in order to provide automatic issue, management and status reporting of all calls.
